Chemical Peel FAQ's

A chemical peel is a professional skin-resurfacing treatment that uses a specialized acidic solution to gently remove the damaged outer layers of your skin. By exfoliating these top layers, the treatment reveals the smoother, clearer, and more radiant skin underneath. It is highly effective for reducing fine lines, improving skin texture, clearing acne, and evening out skin tone or pigmentation.

Downtime varies depending on the depth of the peel. Superficial or light peels typically involve mild flakiness for a few days with little to no downtime, making them perfect for a quick refresh. Medium-depth peels may cause redness and visible peeling for about 5 to 7 days. During your consultation, we customize the peel to your specific skin goals and your schedule to ensure the best experience.

Post-treatment care is essential for achieving the best results. We recommend keeping your skin hydrated with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer and staying out of direct sunlight. It is crucial to wear a broad-spectrum SPF daily, as your new skin will be more sensitive to UV rays. Most importantly, resist the urge to pick or peel any flaking skin—letting it shed naturally prevents irritation and ensures a smooth, glowing finish.

Before Your Chemical Peel Treatment:

  1. Skip Harsh Exfoliants: Avoid strong exfoliants and scrubs a week before your peel to prevent irritation.
  2. Avoid Sun Exposure: Stay out of the sun and skip tanning beds to keep your skin from becoming too sensitive.
  3. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin well-hydrated and in great shape.
  4. Consult Your Provider: Share any skin concerns, allergies, or medications with your provider so they can tailor the treatment to your needs.
  5. Pause Certain Skincare Products: Hold off on retinoids, exfoliating products, and products that contain active ingredients like alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) a few days before your peel to avoid over-sensitizing your skin and keep it calm and happy.

After Your Chemical Peel Treatment:

  1. Hands Off: Resist the urge to touch, pick, or scratch the treated areas to prevent irritation or infection.
  2. Stay Cool: Avoid hot showers, saunas, and direct sun exposure for at least 24-48 hours to keep your skin calm.
  3. Moisturize and Hydrate: Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer regularly and keep drinking water to help your skin recover and stay supple.
  4. Skip Makeup: Give your skin a break from makeup for at least 24 hours to allow it to breathe and heal.
  5. Follow Aftercare Instructions: Stick to any specific aftercare advice your provider gives you, including using recommended products and avoiding certain activities to ensure the best results.
